Our paper "Fission yeast polycystin Pkd2p promotes cell size expansion and antagonizes the Hippo-related SIN pathway" has been just published by the Journal of Cell Science. https://journals.biologists.com/jcs/article-abstract/135/4/jcs259046/274457/Fission-yeast-polycystin-Pkd2p-promotes-cell-size?redirectedFrom=fulltext".
In the paper, we discovered the novel function of Pkd2 in promoting cell growth during interphase and inhibiting the activity of yeast SIN pathway during cytokinesis, through yeast genetic and quantitative microscopy. This is a culmination of three-years of hard work by a team including the graduate student Debatrayee Sinha and undergraduates Denisa Ivan and Maddie Cheluru. This is also thanks to our collaborator John Goss and his group at Wellesley College.
